Description

Issued in 1966, Zambia Scott #28–29 commemorate the University of Zambia, the country’s first national university and a key institution in Zambia’s post-independence development. The issue reflects the young nation’s emphasis on higher education, modernization, and long-term investment in human capital following independence in 1964.

Both stamps feature a modernist architectural rendering of the University of Zambia campus, presented in a clean, geometric style characteristic of mid-1960s design. The simplified forms and stacked vertical elements convey progress, stability, and academic ambition. The inscriptions “UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA” and “ZAMBIA” appear prominently on each stamp.
