Description
Issued in 1965, United Nations Scott #145 is a souvenir sheet marking the 20th anniversary of the United Nations, commemorating two decades of international cooperation since the organization’s founding in 1945. The issue reflects the optimism of the postwar period and the UN’s growing role in diplomacy, peacekeeping, and global development.
The sheet contains two stamps, denominated 5 cents and 15 cents, each featuring a symbolic design of two hands clasped in a handshake, framed by the UN laurel wreath. This imagery represents cooperation, partnership, and peaceful relations between nations. The stamps are printed in contrasting blue and magenta tones, giving the sheet both balance and visual impact.
A formal gold border surrounds the stamps, with bilingual inscriptions in English and French reading “Anniversary XX” and the founding date 26 June 1945–1965. The UN emblem appears at the bottom center, reinforcing the official and ceremonial nature of the issue.
This example is offered mint never hinged (MNH), with full original gum, crisp margins, and bright color. A classic mid-century UN souvenir sheet for collectors of international organizations, peace themes, and United Nations philately.
