Description
Issued in 1983, United Arab Emirates Scott #153–156 are part of the UAE’s long-running national emblem definitive series, featuring the iconic falcon bearing the shield of the federation. These stamps continued the standardized design that served as the backbone of everyday postal use throughout the country during the 1980s.
Each stamp shows the falcon with wings outspread, carrying a circular shield depicting a dhow sailing on stylized waves, symbolizing the UAE’s maritime heritage and trading traditions. Beneath the falcon is a ribbon in the national colors of red, green, white, and black. Arabic inscriptions appear across the top, with “United Arab Emirates” and the denomination printed in English below.
The four denominations are printed in different colors for easy postal recognition:
-
3 Dirhams (light blue) – Scott #153
-
5 Dirhams (yellow) – Scott #154
-
10 Dirhams (orange) – Scott #155
-
20 Dirhams (gray) – Scott #156
The bold color coding and clean graphic layout reflect the practical design of modern definitives while still showcasing strong national symbolism.
These examples are offered used, with visible cancellations, intact perforations, and solid color. A classic high-value group for collectors of UAE definitives, Middle Eastern stamps, and national emblem issues.
