Description
Issued in 1983, United Arab Emirates Scott #154 is part of the UAE’s definitive series featuring the national emblem of the federation, a falcon carrying the shield of the seven emirates. This design became a central symbol of UAE identity on postage stamps throughout the 1980s.
The stamp shows the falcon with wings outspread, holding a circular emblem depicting a dhow sailing on stylized waves, representing the country’s historic maritime trade and coastal heritage. Below the falcon is a ribbon in the national colors of red, green, white, and black. Arabic script at the top identifies the country, with “United Arab Emirates” printed in English at the bottom.
Printed in a bright yellow shade, the stamp is highly visible and distinctive. The 5-dirham denomination placed it among the higher-value definitives, commonly used for heavier domestic mail and international postage.
This example is offered used, with a visible cancellation, intact perforations, and strong color. A classic piece of UAE definitive philately and national symbolism.
