Issued in 1961, Uganda Scott #111–114 commemorates the Thirteenth Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, held in Kampala, marking a key moment in Uganda’s emergence as a major political center within the British Commonwealth. The four-stamp set reflects both Uganda’s traditional heritage and its evolving role in international parliamentary democracy during the early 1960s.

The designs move from symbolic to architectural. The 30c stamp features a stylized chamber and traditional motifs, linking modern governance with indigenous cultural roots. The 50c stamp presents a striking shield flanked by native wildlife, blending national identity with the Commonwealth theme. The 1s30 value shows the exterior of Uganda’s parliamentary complex, rendered in clean mid-century modern lines. The 2s50 stamp depicts the interior of the parliamentary chamber, complete with green benches and speaker’s dais, offering a rare philatelic view inside a functioning African legislature of the period.
