Issued in 1965 by the Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Postaları (Republic of Turkey Post), this semi-postal set commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Çanakkale (Gallipoli), 1915–1965, one of the most defining moments in Turkish national history and a cornerstone of modern Turkish identity.
Each design honors courage, remembrance, and the birth of national unity that would later shape the Republic under Mustafa Kemal Atatürk:

50 + 10 kuruş — Depicts a laurel wreath, symbolizing honor and victory.

90 + 10 kuruş — Shows soldiers standing before a memorial obelisk inscribed “Mehmetçik,” the affectionate name for the Turkish soldier.

130 + 10 kuruş — Features the Çanakkale Martyrs’ Memorial and the Turkish flag, representing eternal national pride and sacrifice.
Printed by Kıral Matbaası, Istanbul, this set blends realism and solemn dignity, marking half a century since one of World War I’s most storied campaigns. The surtax ( +10 kuruş ) was used to support veteran and memorial causes.
