Description

Trinidad & Tobago Scott #160–161 (1969) — 50th Anniversary of the International Labour Organization, Hinged

Issued in 1969, this two-stamp commemorative set marks the 50th Anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO), founded in 1919 to promote workers’ rights and social justice.

  • — features a portrait of Albert Thomas (1878–1932), the first Director-General of the ILO, with the organization’s emblem and the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

  • 15¢ — depicts the ILO crest above the same symbolic backdrop, representing cooperation and progress.

Both designs incorporate the ILO’s motto “Pax et Justitia” (Peace and Justice) and a stylized emblem of two hands joining — a fitting representation of unity through labor.
