Issued in 1990 by the island of Niuafo’ou (Tonga), this stunning 12-stamp set of imperforate pairs celebrates the beauty and diversity of butterflies from around the world. Each design features a vivid photographic depiction of a different species, including the Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus), Crow Butterfly (Euploea core), Blue Tiger (Tirumala limniace), Blue Moon Butterfly (Hypolimnas bolina), and the Australian Meadow-Argus (Junonia villida).
Printed in bright full color on self-adhesive paper, these imperforate issues were released in pairs, making them highly desirable for collectors of modern Tonga and Niuafo’ou material. Denominations range from 45¢ to $7.30, and the set remains Mint, Never Hinged (MNH) with fresh gum and pristine presentation.
An eye-catching addition to any butterfly, wildlife, or Pacific island thematic collection.
