Thailand Scott #315 (1955) – United Nations Day – Mint Never Hinged
Issued in 1955, this commemorative stamp marks United Nations Day, observed annually on October 24. The design features the United Nations emblem — a world map encircled by olive branches — framed within an ornate traditional Thai border printed in deep violet and gray.
This issue continues the series first introduced in 1952, but is distinguished by the red overprinted year “1955” placed prominently at the center of the design.
Printed in 25 Satang denomination, the stamp symbolizes Thailand’s growing participation in international diplomacy during the mid-20th century and its support for global cooperation under the UN.
This example is Mint Never Hinged (MNH) with full original gum, strong color, clear overprint, and crisp perforations.
