This dynamic Tanzania 500/- commemorative (Scott #742) was issued in 1989 to mark the 25th Anniversary of INTELSAT (1964–1989)—the international satellite organization that revolutionized global telecommunications. The design features the Mwenge Standard “A” Earth Station, one of Tanzania’s major satellite communication hubs, shown with its massive parabolic dish towering against a bright blue sky.

Printed in vivid color with crisp architectural detail, the stamp celebrates a milestone in worldwide communication and Africa’s participation in the rapidly expanding satellite era. The INTELSAT logo and globe emblem appear prominently, emphasizing the global scope of the anniversary.
