Description

This St. Vincent commemorative stamp set, Scott #312–315, was issued in 1971 to mark the 110th anniversary of the island’s first postage stamps, originally released in 1861. The issue commemorates both the origins of St. Vincent’s postal system and its modern development.

Each stamp combines two contrasting elements: a reproduction of one of St. Vincent’s first classic Queen Victoria–era stamps (the Six Pence and One Penny values) and a depiction of the new General Post Office building, symbolizing continuity between the island’s postal heritage and contemporary infrastructure.

The designs use bold color blocks and clean graphic layout typical of early 1970s commemorative style. The historic stamp reproductions are clearly framed and labeled, allowing collectors to appreciate the classic designs within a modern context. Inscriptions prominently reference the anniversary dates 1861–1971, reinforcing the historical theme.

This complete set is offered mint never hinged (MNH), with full original gum and no hinge marks or disturbance. MNH postal-history commemoratives are popular with collectors of classic stamp anniversaries, Caribbean philately, and postal system development themes.
