Issued in 1968, St. Lucia Scott #241–244 is a colorful commemorative stamp set showcasing the island’s native birdlife, highlighting two species emblematic of St. Lucia’s natural heritage. The issue reflects the growing mid-20th-century interest in wildlife conservation and natural history themes in Caribbean philately.

Two designs appear across the four stamps. One features the Humming Bird (Colibri) in dynamic flight, captured with outstretched wings amid flowering branches. The fine detail emphasizes motion, iridescent plumage, and the delicate balance between bird and plant life. The second design depicts the St. Lucia Parrot, the island’s national bird, shown perched among bright yellow blossoms, its green, blue, and red plumage rendered with striking clarity.

Each design appears in two denominations—10c and 25c for the hummingbird, and 15c and 35c for the parrot—allowing the same artwork to be appreciated in varied color treatments and values.
