Description

Issued in 1975, San Marino Scott C130–C132 is an airmail stamp set dedicated to gliding aviation, titled Volo a Vela (“Sailplane Flight”). The issue reflects San Marino’s long-standing interest in aviation themes, presented here in a distinctly modern, graphic design style characteristic of the 1970s.

Each stamp features a sleek sailplane (glider) rendered in minimalist white silhouette, set against flowing, wave-like backgrounds that suggest air currents and motion. The abstract gradients of green, blue, and violet give the designs a sense of lift and forward movement, while clean typography reinforces the contemporary aesthetic. The absence of ground detail places full emphasis on flight itself, aligning perfectly with the concept of unpowered gliding.

The set was issued in three airmail denominations—L.40, L.120, and L.500—covering a range of international postal and airmail rates. Printed by Courvoisier S.A., the stamps exhibit sharp lines, smooth color transitions, and excellent production quality.

All stamps are offered mint never hinged (MNH), with full original gum, clean perforations, and fresh, well-preserved color. A striking set for collectors of airmail stamps, aviation themes, or modern European design.
