Issued in 1948 during the postwar period of Saar autonomy, Saar Scott #201–202 commemorate the first anniversary of the Saar Constitution (“1 Jahr Verfassung”), adopted on 15 December 1947. The stamps mark a key moment in Saar’s political separation from Germany and its alignment with France prior to eventual reintegration.

Both designs feature a map outline of the Saar Territory, with the anniversary dates “15. Dez. 1947 – 15. Dez. 1948” prominently displayed within the map. The inscriptions emphasize Saar’s constitutional identity during this transitional era of European reconstruction following World War II.

• Scott #202 (25 francs) appears in blue, offering visual contrast while maintaining identical design elements.
