Issued in 1953, Saar Scott B95 is a semi-postal (charity) stamp commemorating the 125th anniversary of the birth of Henri Dunant, founder of the International Red Cross. At the time of issue, the Saar Territory was still politically distinct from West Germany, and charity stamps like this one played an important role in supporting humanitarian organizations and public welfare initiatives.

The design features a dignified engraved portrait of Henri Dunant, whose experiences at the Battle of Solferino in 1859 led him to establish the Red Cross and advocate for international humanitarian law. His calm, direct gaze and formal attire reflect the 19th-century origins of the movement, while the red cross emblem at lower right firmly links the stamp to his enduring legacy.

Denominated 15 francs plus a 5 franc charity surtax, the stamp was intended to raise funds for Red Cross activities while also honoring one of the most important figures in modern humanitarian history. The fine-line engraving style gives the portrait a banknote-like precision and historical gravitas.

This example is offered unused, hinged, with original gum present and a hinge mark on the reverse. The stamp is well-centered, sharply printed, and has intact perforations with strong overall eye appeal.
