Description
Issued in 1930 during the League of Nations administration of the Saar Territory, Saar Scott #108 is a pictorial definitive depicting a regional landscape rendered in finely engraved line work. The scene emphasizes Saar’s industrial and rural character, combining architecture and terrain within an ornamental frame typical of early 1930s European stamp design.
The stamp is inscribed “SAARGEBIET” across the top and printed in a rich red tone, giving the design strong visual contrast and presence. Part of the later Saar pictorial series, this issue reflects a period of relative design stability following the earlier years of overprints and surcharges.
Scott #108 belongs to the final phase of Saar Territory stamp production before the 1935 plebiscite, making it a representative example of Saar’s mature postal identity under international administration.
This example is offered used, with a visible cancellation, intact perforations, and solid overall eye appeal.
