Romania – Scott #s 3954-57

Description

This is a mint never hinged (MNH) four-stamp set from Romania, Scott #3954–3957, issued in 1994 in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The series focuses on sturgeon species, fish of major ecological and historical importance in the Danube River and Black Sea basin.

Each stamp depicts a different species, identified by its scientific name, with detailed, naturalistic illustration:

• Scott 3954 (150 L) – Acipenser ruthenus (sterlet)

• Scott 3955 (280 L) – Acipenser gueldenstaedtii (Russian sturgeon)

• Scott 3956 (500 L) – Acipenser stellatus (stellate sturgeon)

• Scott 3957 (635 L) – Acipenser sturio (European sturgeon)
