This is a mint never hinged (MNH) airmail stamp pair from Romania, Scott #C182a, issued in 1971 to commemorate early space exploration and lunar missions.

The pair illustrates two major achievements of the Soviet space program:

• Luna 17 / Lunokhod 1 – depicting the first successful remote-controlled lunar rover operating on the Moon’s surface
