Description
This is a mint never hinged (MNH) single stamp from Romania, Scott #2003, issued in 1968 as part of a series featuring European classical painting.
The stamp reproduces “Medor și Angelica” by Sebastiano Ricci, an Italian Baroque painter known for his dynamic compositions and luminous color palette. The scene depicts figures from Ludovico Ariosto’s epic poem Orlando Furioso, a popular subject in European art, combining mythological narrative with sensual, pastoral imagery.
The artwork is framed within a white border, allowing the rich colors and painterly detail to stand out, reflecting Romania’s mid-20th-century tradition of high-quality art reproductions on postage stamps.
Condition:
Mint never hinged (MNH). Original gum intact and undisturbed. Clean surface, strong color, and intact perforations.
