Portugal – Scott #RA7–RA10 (1919) form part of the “Esforço e Vitória” (Effort and Victory) war tax series issued to commemorate Portugal’s participation in World War I. These stamps depict a powerful allegorical figure of Victory holding a sword and shield, with soldiers in the background—symbolizing the nation’s courage and sacrifice during the Great War. Inscribed “Padrões da Grande Guerra” (“Standards of the Great War”), the set was issued to raise funds for war memorials. Denominations are 10c + 5c, printed in four colors: brown, blue, carmine, and green. Produced by Casa da Moeda, these issues are beautifully engraved and historically significant.
