Description

Congo (People’s Republic) – Scott #849–852 (1990) MNH – Birds of the Congo Set
Issued in 1990 by the République Populaire du Congo, this beautifully illustrated four-stamp set celebrates the region’s rich avian diversity. Each stamp features a finely detailed bird species rendered in naturalistic color against soft backgrounds:

  • 25F – Tourterelle des bois (Wood Dove) – 1989 issue

  • 50F – Fauvette Pitchou (Dartford Warbler) – 1990 issue

  • 70F – Faucon Crécerelle (Kestrel) – 1990 issue

  • 150F – Perroquet Gris (African Grey Parrot) – 1990 issue

Designed by A. Goffin and printed by Cartor, these stamps combine scientific precision with artistic grace. The series highlights both native and migratory species found in Central Africa and is part of a broader theme of wildlife conservation in the late People’s Republic period.

All four stamps are mint, never hinged (MNH), with full original gum and fresh, vivid color. A perfect addition for collectors of bird stamps, African wildlife, or modern engraved issues.
