Description
Netherlands Scott B259–B263 is a 1960 semipostal charity set issued under the theme “Voor het Kind” (For the Child) to raise funds for child welfare and social assistance programs. Each stamp carries a mandatory surtax, placing the set within the Scott B (semipostal) category.
The five-stamp series combines child portraits with symbolic illustrations, including everyday objects, nature motifs, and scenes associated with learning and growth. The designs reflect a mid-20th-century modern graphic style, balancing clean linework with warm color palettes. Each stamp pairs a child’s profile with an emblematic image, reinforcing themes of care, development, and hope for the future.
The surtax amounts printed on each stamp were allocated directly to charitable organizations supporting children’s health, education, and welfare. These stamps were valid for postal use for a limited period, as indicated in the inscriptions.
Offered here as a complete mint never hinged (MNH) set, with full original gum, fresh color, sharp impressions, and intact perforations across all five stamps.
