Description
Netherlands Scott B154–B158 is a 1947 semipostal charity set issued under the theme “Voor het Kind” (For the Child) to support child welfare programs in the Netherlands during the postwar reconstruction period. Each stamp includes a mandatory surtax, qualifying the series as a Scott B-category semipostal issue.
The five-stamp set features a solemn engraved portrait of a young child, presented in a restrained and emotionally direct style. The repeated central image underscores the humanitarian purpose of the issue, while varying denominations and color schemes distinguish each value within the set. The child’s expression and simplified background reflect the seriousness of postwar conditions and the emphasis on protecting and rebuilding the lives of children affected by World War II.
Surtax amounts printed on each stamp were allocated to charitable organizations dedicated to child relief and social care. These stamps were valid for postal use for a limited period, as indicated in the inscriptions.
Offered here as a complete unused hinged set, with original gum present and hinge marks typical of mid-1940s Dutch semipostal issues. The stamps display strong color, clean impressions, and intact perforations throughout.
