Issued in 1962, Federation of Malaya Scott #108–110 promotes Pelajaran Rendah Percuma (Free Primary Education), reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding access to basic schooling during the nation’s early years of independence. Education was seen as a cornerstone of national development, helping to unify a multiethnic society while building the skilled workforce needed for economic growth in post-colonial Malaya.

The design shows two young schoolchildren walking forward, their small figures contrasted against long, dramatic shadows that stretch ahead of them. The shadows symbolize the future shaped by education, suggesting opportunity, progress, and personal growth. The soft, blended background colors and simplified silhouettes give the stamps a hopeful, almost dreamlike quality, while the clean typography anchors the message in clarity and purpose.
