Description
This is the complete 1971 Caritas semi-postal set from Luxembourg (Scott B282), issued to support national charitable programs. All five stamps are Mint Never Hinged (MNH) with full original gum and excellent centering.
The 1971 Caritas series features finely detailed sculptural figures drawn from Luxembourg’s religious and artistic heritage, engraved and printed by Courvoisier S.A., one of Europe’s most respected printers. Each stamp combines traditional wood-carved imagery with modern color fields, creating a distinctive series highly regarded by Luxembourg collectors.
Set includes all five values:
-
1F + 25c – Children with tambourines
-
1.50F + 25c – Peasant woman and child
-
3F + 50c – Holy Family scene
-
8F + 1F – Elderly couple
-
18F + 6.50F – Saint with staff and child
These semi-postals carried a charitable surtax benefiting local social services, a hallmark of Luxembourg’s long tradition of Caritas fundraising issues. Clean, fresh examples with no faults—an attractive, colorful set ideal for European topical collectors (religion, sculpture, fundraising issues) or anyone building a high-quality Luxembourg collection.
