Description
This attractive pair of 1994 Luxembourg stamps (Scott #907–908) celebrates two of the nation’s most acclaimed artists—Joseph Kutter and Nico Klopp, both born in 1894 and central figures of Luxembourg’s early modern art movement. The stamps reproduce well-known works from each painter, printed with exceptional quality by Courvoisier, known for producing some of Europe’s finest art-themed issues.
Scott #907 – Joseph Kutter (1894–1941)
Features Kutter’s distinctive Expressionist style, here shown in a winter street scene with stark buildings, long shadows, and a moody sky. His characteristic bold brushwork and dramatic atmosphere are faithfully reproduced, making this stamp a miniature gallery piece.
Scott #908 – Nico Klopp (1894–1930)
Showcases one of Klopp’s vibrant landscape compositions, filled with sweeping curves, glowing fields, and dynamic lines. The blue river cutting across the countryside reflects his Fauvist-inspired use of color and form.
Both stamps are used, with circular cancellations that remain unobtrusive and allow the artwork to remain the focal point. A highly collectable pair for admirers of European modern art, Luxembourg culture, Courvoisier-printed issues, or art-on-stamps topicals.
