Description

Liechtenstein – Scott #799–800 (1984) – Prince Hans-Adam II & Princess Marie – Mint Never Hinged Set of 2

This beautifully crafted two-stamp set, Scott #799–800, was issued by Liechtenstein in 1984 and features elegant contemporary portraits of Prince Hans-Adam II and Princess Marie (née Countess Kinsky). Issued during the final years of Prince Franz Josef II’s reign, these stamps celebrate the principality’s next ruling couple, who would assume leadership just a few years later.

Designed by W. Wachter and W. Seidel, and printed with Courvoisier-quality precision, each stamp presents:

  • A finely detailed profile portrait

  • A rich blue background symbolizing stability and monarchy

  • The small crown emblem of the Princely House

  • Distinctive modern serif typography

The set includes:

  • 1.70 fr – Princess Marie (Scott #799), shown in a rose gown with pearl necklace

  • 2.00 fr – Prince Hans-Adam II (Scott #800), depicted in formal attire

Both stamps are Mint Never Hinged (MNH) with full original gum and excellent color—an ideal pair for collectors of Liechtenstein royalty, European modern portraits, and late 20th-century definitive-style issues.
