Libya – Scott #173–174 (1956) – 15m & 35m – First Anniversary of Independence – Mint Never Hinged
This attractive two-stamp set, Scott #173–174, was issued by Libya on 14 December 1956 to commemorate the first anniversary of Libyan independence (1955–1956). These stamps celebrate the newly united Kingdom of Libya, formed from the regions of Tripolitania, Cyrenaica, and Fezzan—all of which are depicted prominently on the map design.
Each stamp features:

A map of Libya showing Tripoli, Benghazi, and key regions

A Libyan flag marking the capital

Arabic and French inscriptions (“Postes Mills,” dates, and commemorative text)
