Description
This striking 100p Lebanon pictorial (Scott #209), issued in 1942, offers a richly engraved view of Tripoli, one of Lebanon’s most historic coastal cities. Printed in deep violet-purple, the design depicts traditional stone architecture rising above the river, complete with arches, stacked dwellings, and flowing water beneath—an iconic representation of Tripoli’s blend of natural landscape and centuries-old urban texture.
The ornate frame combines Arabic and French inscriptions characteristic of early Lebanese Republic issues. Like its 50p counterpart (Scott #208), this stamp was produced by I.C. Beyrouth and remains part of a highly collectible series of Lebanese town and city views.
This example is used, with a partial circular cancel that does not obscure the central vignette. Ideal for collectors of Lebanese landscapes, city-view pictorials, Middle Eastern postal history, or classic engraved designs of the 1940s.
