Description
Laos (Kingdom) — UNESCO 20th Anniversary Issues 20k–60k (Scott 133–136)
This modernist commemorative set from the Kingdom of Laos, cataloged as Scott 133–136, was issued to mark the 20th anniversary of UNESCO (1946–1966), celebrating the organization’s role in promoting education, science, culture, and international cooperation.
Each stamp features a minimalist, geometric design centered on the UNESCO temple emblem, framed by bold blocks of color and clean typographic elements. The restrained aesthetic reflects mid-20th-century graphic design trends and contrasts sharply with the more illustrative Lao issues of the same era.
Scott 133 (20 kip) appears in warm orange tones.
Scott 134 (30 kip) is rendered in cool blue.
Scott 135 (40 kip) uses fresh green hues.
Scott 136 (60 kip) completes the set in deep red.
All four stamps include inscriptions in Lao script and French, with the anniversary years clearly indicated. The set is offered in mint never hinged (MNH) condition, with full original gum, sharp perforations, and strong, unfaded color throughout.
A visually striking and thematically cohesive set appealing to collectors of UNESCO issues, international organizations, modernist design, and Southeast Asian philately.
