Description

Jordanian Occupation of Palestine – Scott #N3

Issued in 1948, Scott #N3 is a Jordanian occupation stamp for use in Palestine, created by overprinting a regular Jordan definitive, specifically Jordan Scott #208. The overprint authorized postal use in Palestinian territories under Jordanian military control following the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

The underlying stamp features a portrait of Emir Abdullah I, ruler of Transjordan and later King of Jordan, while the occupation overprint reflects the rapid administrative and postal adjustments made during this transitional period. These stamps were part of Jordan’s provisional postal arrangements prior to the formal annexation of the West Bank in 1950.

Occupation issues of this type form a specialized and closely studied area of Middle Eastern philately and are sought after by collectors of Jordan, Palestine, and post-1948 occupation issues.

Condition: Mint Never Hinged (MNH).
