Description
Jordanian Occupation of Palestine – Scott #N11
Issued in 1948, Scott #N11 is a Jordanian occupation stamp for use in Palestine, produced by overprinting a regular Jordan definitive, specifically Jordan Scott #206. The overprint authorized postal use in Palestinian territories under Jordanian military control following the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
The underlying stamp bears a portrait of Emir Abdullah I, ruler of Transjordan and later King of Jordan. The occupation overprint reflects the provisional postal measures implemented during a period of rapid political transition, prior to Jordan’s formal annexation of the West Bank in 1950.
These occupation issues constitute a distinct and carefully studied subset of Middle Eastern philately, valued for their short period of use and clear historical context.
Condition: Mint Never Hinged (MNH).
