Description
Jordanian Occupation of Palestine – Scott #N10
Issued in 1948, Scott #N10 is a Jordanian occupation stamp for use in Palestine, produced by overprinting a regular Jordan definitive, specifically Jordan Scott #205. The overprint authorized the stamp’s use in Palestinian territories under Jordanian control during the immediate aftermath of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
The base stamp features a portrait of Emir Abdullah I, ruler of Transjordan and later King of Jordan. The occupation overprint reflects the provisional postal arrangements implemented by Jordan prior to the formal annexation of the West Bank in 1950. Higher denominations such as this were intended for heavier or higher-value mail and are less commonly encountered than lower values in the series.
Jordanian occupation issues of Palestine form a specialized and closely studied field within Middle Eastern philately, valued for their historical significance and clearly defined period of use.
Condition: Mint Never Hinged (MNH).
