Description
Issued by Jamaica in 1969, this five-stamp commemorative set honors the country’s National Heroes, recognizing key figures in Jamaica’s political, social, and cultural history. Listed as Scott #297–301, the set features portrait designs of George William Gordon, Sir Alexander Bustamante, Norman Manley, Marcus Garvey, and Paul Bogle.
Each stamp presents a finely engraved portrait set against a softly shaded background, bordered with laurel motifs and accented by the Jamaican national colors along the sides. The series reflects Jamaica’s post-independence emphasis on national identity and historical legacy, making it an important and popular topical issue for Caribbean and Commonwealth collectors.
