Description
Issued in 1958, Iran Scott #1126–1127 commemorates United Nations Day, reflecting Iran’s participation in and support for the United Nations during the mid-20th century. UN-themed issues were common among member nations in this period, symbolizing postwar international cooperation, diplomacy, and collective security.
Both stamps feature the United Nations emblem, with the world map encircled by olive branches, placed prominently at center. Above the emblem appears a stylized eagle, suggesting peacekeeping, international reach, and modern global connectivity. The silhouette of Iran is shown below, visually linking the nation to the broader international community represented by the UN.
The inscriptions include “IRAN” in English and Persian, along with “NATIONS-UNIS 1958”, identifying the commemorative occasion. The set consists of two denominations printed in contrasting colors:
-
6 rials, printed in blue
-
10 rials, printed in violet
The clean, symbolic layout and restrained palette are typical of late-1950s Iranian commemoratives, combining modern graphic design with diplomatic messaging.
This pair is offered mint never hinged (MNH), retaining full original gum with no hinge marks. Both stamps display strong color, crisp printing, and intact perforations.
