Issued in 1928, Iran Scott #C35 is a classic airmail stamp from the early Pahlavi period, combining royal portraiture with imagery symbolizing the modern reach of aviation. Airmail issues from this era were intended to showcase technological progress while reinforcing state authority during a time of rapid national transformation.

The design is divided into two distinct panels. At left is a formal engraved portrait of Reza Shah Pahlavi, shown in military uniform and plumed hat, emphasizing his role as founder of the Pahlavi dynasty and architect of modern Iran. At right appears a dramatic aviation scene featuring a bird in flight over a mountainous landscape, a poetic visual metaphor for air travel and speed. The inscriptions include “POSTES AÉRIENNES PERSANNES” in French, identifying the stamp’s airmail function in accordance with international postal standards. The denomination is expressed in krans (Krs.), and Persian script appears throughout the ornate border.
