Description

Full Description:
This is the 1903 Two Cents Green stamp of Hong Kong (Scott #88), featuring King Edward VII in profile within an ornate frame that includes bilingual inscriptions — English at top and bottom, and Chinese characters at the sides. Issued under British colonial administration, this design was engraved by De La Rue & Co., renowned for their detailed line engraving and crisp impressions.

The stamp belongs to the Edward VII issue (1903–1911), a definitive series that replaced the long-running Queen Victoria types and reflected the stylistic transition of early 20th-century colonial philately. The frame’s clean geometric design and royal portrait symbolize British authority and imperial presence in Asia during the height of the empire.

Printed in emerald green, this stamp bears a circular date cancellation, consistent with commercial postal use.
