Description
Hong Kong – Scott #160A (1938–48) / King George VI Definitive / 25¢ Olive-Bistre / Unused Hinged
This 25-cent olive-bistre stamp is part of the important 1938–1948 King George VI definitive series, one of the most historically recognized issues from colonial Hong Kong. The design features a fine engraved profile portrait of King George VI, framed by a traditional Chinese key-pattern border and bilingual inscriptions in English and Chinese, reflecting the cultural and administrative identity of Hong Kong under British governance.
Unlike the blue version (Scott #160), Scott #160A represents a distinct color variety, prized by specialists for its more muted olive-bistre tone. Printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., this issue is notable for its excellent engraving detail and clean line work.
This example is unused, showing original gum with hinge mark. Centering and impression are strong, making it an attractive and classic representative of the issue.
