Description

Hong Kong Scott #15 (issued 1863–71) is a classic 12-cent blue Queen Victoria definitive stamp from the early colonial period of British Hong Kong. Printed by De La Rue & Co. in London, this issue features a finely engraved profile of Queen Victoria facing left, set within an ornate rectangular frame bearing bilingual inscriptions — “HONG KONG” at top and “十二分” (Chinese for “twelve cents”) vertically along the sides. The intricate keyplate design, Greek-style border, and crisp typography reflect the meticulous craftsmanship of mid-19th century British engravers.

This used example shows a clear circular cancellation and retains strong color despite age, offering collectors a genuine piece of Hong Kong’s early postal heritage. Stamps from this series are highly regarded for their historical importance, having served during the formative years of British postal administration in East Asia. A fine addition to any collection of classic British Colonies or Asian philately.
