Issued in 1902, Great Britain Scott #161 is the 1½d (Three Halfpence) Edward VII definitive, part of the first definitive series released following the death of Queen Victoria and the accession of King Edward VII. These issues marked a clear stylistic and historical shift, inaugurating the Edwardian period in British philately.

The design features a right-facing crowned portrait of King Edward VII set within an ornate frame inscribed POSTAGE & REVENUE. Printed in brownish-red by surface printing, the stamp reflects the refined yet restrained aesthetic of early Edwardian stamp design.
