Issued in 1957 in support of the French Red Cross, France Scott B318–B319 form a matched pair of semi-postal charity stamps featuring figures inspired by the engravings of Jacques Callot (1592–1635), the renowned French Baroque printmaker known for his detailed depictions of everyday life.
Both designs portray humble, cloaked figures rendered in a restrained, linear engraving style that echoes Callot’s original work.
