Issued in 1983, this striking miniature set honors the Founders of the Naumburg Cathedral (Naumburger Dom)—one of the most celebrated monuments of German Gothic art. The set features the renowned stone donor statues created by the Naumburg Master, whose expressive realism and emotional depth made him a pivotal figure in medieval sculpture.

Each stamp depicts two of the cathedral’s twelve life-sized donor figures, carved in the 13th century:
