Description
Djibouti – Scott #682 (1990) – Hamadryas Baboon – Mint Never Hinged
Issued in 1990, this beautifully printed stamp from the Republic of Djibouti features the Papio hamadryas, commonly known as the Hamadryas baboon. Native to the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, this species was considered sacred in ancient Egypt and continues to be a symbol of the rugged landscapes of East Africa.
Printed by Courvoisier, one of the world’s most respected security printers, the stamp displays excellent color depth and fine detail. The soft gradients of the background and careful rendering of the animal show the high-quality craftsmanship typical of Courvoisier issues.
