Description
Issued by Denmark in 1959, this three-value set (Scott #366–368) commemorates the 60th birthday of King Frederick IX (1899–1959). Each stamp presents a finely engraved profile portrait of the monarch, crowned and rendered in a formal medal-style oval, typical of mid-century Danish state portraiture.
Printed in red (30 øre), violet (35 øre), and blue (60 øre), the set marked a significant national celebration during Frederick IX’s reign, which oversaw both post-war modernization and Denmark’s growing international presence. These examples are postally used, with legible cancels and clean color, and remain attractive commemoratives for collectors of Danish royalty and modern European issues.
