Description
Issued by Denmark in 1957, this pair (Scott #363–364) commemorates the 150th anniversary of the National Museum (Nationalmuseet), founded in 1807 as Denmark’s principal repository of historical and cultural heritage.
The 30 øre value shows the museum’s main building in Copenhagen, referencing its architectural presence and role in preserving the nation’s antiquities. The 60 øre depicts the famous Bronze Age Sun Chariot (Solvognen), one of Denmark’s most iconic archaeological treasures, reflecting the country’s prehistoric artistic and religious traditions.
Both stamps are postally used, with clear strikes and intact detail, and remain notable issues for collectors of Danish commemoratives and museum-related themes.
