Description
Denmark Scott #938, issued in 1991, commemorates the 750th anniversary of the Danish Law of Jutland (Jyske Lov), one of the most important foundational legal texts in Danish history, first promulgated in 1241.
The stamp design incorporates historic manuscript-style text alongside symbolic legal imagery, evoking medieval law codes and Denmark’s long legal tradition. Warm yellow and earth tones dominate the composition, with layered typography reinforcing the theme of written law and civic order. The stamp carries an 8.25 krone denomination.
This example is postally used, showing a visible cancellation with solid overall eye appeal. A meaningful addition to collections focused on legal history, medieval studies, European culture, or Scandinavian philately.
