Description
Denmark Scott #218 (1934) is the 35 øre red-violet value from the engraved definitive series portraying King Christian X. This issue features the king’s profile rendered in fine engraved detail, enclosed within a laurel-framed oval typical of the Christian X definitives of the 1930s. The inscription “CHR. X REX” appears along the lower curve of the vignette.
The stamp’s design is completed with classic post horns in the upper corners—longstanding symbols of Denmark’s postal system—and bold “35” numerals in the bottom corners, creating a symmetrical and visually balanced layout. The deep red-violet color gives this value a dignified and richly toned appearance.
This used example carries a strong, readable circular cancel that crosses the portrait without obscuring design details. Engraving quality remains crisp, and the perforations are typical for normal postal use. A solid example for collectors of Scandinavian definitives, Danish monarchy issues, or classic mid-20th-century engraved portrait stamps.
