Description
Denmark Scott #164 (1927) is part of the engraved definitive series honoring King Christian X, featuring a strong vertical-format portrait framed by stylized Danish ornamentation. Printed in green, this 10 øre value is one of the more attractive designs of the late 1920s definitive issues.
The portrait is rendered with crisp line engraving typical of Denmark’s high-quality stamp production of the era. Surrounding the central vignette are Roman numerals (“IX”) denoting Christian X and bold corner numerals indicating the denomination.
Used examples such as this one often bear heavy horizontal machine cancels, a common postal handling characteristic of the period. The strike on this stamp is complete but does not obscure the portrait, allowing the key design elements to remain visible. Perforations and color appear consistent with normal postal use, making this a solid representative of the issue.
