Description

Denmark Scott #121, issued in 1913, is the 50 Øre carmine & gray value from the well-known King Christian X definitive series. This long-running engraved issue is one of the foundational designs of Denmark’s early 20th-century postal era, featuring a right-facing portrait of King Christian X in military uniform, framed by laurel branches and bold denomination tablets.

This example is used, displaying a clean, strong circular postmark—clear enough to add character and authenticity, yet not so heavy as to obscure the king’s portrait. The colors remain vivid, with the carmine frame and the gray vignette showing excellent contrast. Perforations are sound and the stamp retains a pleasing overall appearance.

Stamps from this series are popular with collectors of Scandinavian classics, engraved portrait definitives, and Nordic monarchs. The 50 Øre value is especially desirable due to its higher postal rate usage and typically scarcer clean examples.
