Description
Cyprus – Scott #62 (1912) Unused Hinged – King George V “Half Piastre”
Issued in 1912, this elegant ½ piastre green and carmine definitive features the left-facing profile of King George V, framed within an ornamental border and crowned at top. Part of the first definitive series of George V for Cyprus, these stamps were printed by De La Rue & Co., known for their crisp engraving and classic colonial typography.
The design reflects the restrained dignity of early 20th-century British Empire issues—simple yet beautifully balanced, with CYPRUS in bold red above and denomination panels below.
This example is unused, lightly hinged, with clean gum and strong color. A fine collectible from the early years of British colonial Cyprus, ideal for collectors of King George V, British Commonwealth, or Mediterranean island issues.
